Fostering holistic development of their educational community

Honorable mentionThe Corporación Tecnológica de Bogotá understands virtuality as a set of structured and organized educational strategies, methods, and techniques that enable students to learn by incorporating technology into the educational sphere with a pedagogical focus. This includes leveraging ICT tools based on web mediation for content creation, interaction times, and virtual spaces between the actors in the teaching-learning process. This approach supports the fulfillment of institutional mission and vision.

Within virtuality-associated training processes, the central responsibility for the teaching-learning relationship shifts toward the student, emphasizing their active role as the key participant in their educational process. This is supported by guidance and mentorship from subject-specific instructors, whose role focuses on accompanying, guiding, and strengthening student actions.

"Students are given flexibility in selecting their learning paths and synchronous schedules, promoting autonomous learning and collaborative processes among participants in the Corporation’s educational activities."

María José Jiménez Martínez, Director of Virtuality and Interinstitutional Relations

The challenge

  • Supporting flexible learning paths for each student, promoting autonomous learning, and collaborative processes among participants
  • Fostering learning environments related to connectivity, storage, and relationships while being online
  • Including advanced analytics tools to help with monitoring interaction times

"One significant challenge was ensuring that syllabi were fully reflected in classes, meeting the value propositions of the academic programs."

María José Jiménez Martínez, Director of Virtuality and Interinstitutional Relations

The solution

The platform was acquired in 2019, and training began three months prior to prepare the teaching staff. This enabled our educators to conduct both virtual and in-person classes, equipped with the necessary competencies for each teaching format.

The improvement has been scalable, as average-performing students have enhanced their grades and acquired new knowledge. Additionally, they have developed soft skills such as collaboration and communication. Retention has also significantly improved.

The results

  • 60% increase in international students taking online courses
  • 70% improvement in educational processes
  • 90% reduction in learning gaps

Students have not only improved their learning processes but have also resolved mobility challenges in a complex city like Bogotá. For professors, the platform has simplified their teaching roles, reflected by an overall adherence to their course syllabi of 80%.

We have also successfully collaborated with international companies to qualify both international and national talent, improving our indicators for the internationalization of continuing education. This has resulted in a 60% increase in international virtual mobility, with international students taking virtual courses at Corporación Tecnológica de Bogotá.

Since implementing CYPHER, we have also seen significant academic improvement in student performance, such as a 70% improvement in educational processes and a 90% reduction in learning gaps.

"The CYPHER platform has been a fundamental tool for building our preferred institutional future, facilitating the transition from in-person to virtual education across all levels of the organization."

María José Jiménez Martínez, Director of Virtuality and Interinstitutional Relations
