The challenge

Despite our commitment to learning, our existing training system was not keeping pace with our evolving needs. Learning was lecture-heavy, engagement was low, and manual tracking of compliance training was inefficient and error-prone.
As class sizes grew, training teams struggled to scale, spending hours on administrative tasks instead of focusing on improving training effectiveness.
Compliance was another critical challenge. As a provider to the financial services sector, NTT DATA must meet strict regulatory standards, requiring all employees to complete mandatory compliance training within 30 days. Before implementing CYPHER, manual reporting processes led to inconsistent tracking, making audits stressful and prone to data inaccuracies.

To modernize our learning ecosystem, we implemented CYPHER to automate training processes, improve engagement, and optimize compliance tracking.
Learning paths provided a structured, step-by-step approach to training, ensuring that no critical sessions were missed. This feature simplified compliance tracking by allowing trainers to instantly verify course completion, reducing the risk of audit failures.
Automated onboarding transformed how we train new hires. The self-left learning capabilities of CYPHER set expectations for employees to complete initial training independently, allowing trainers to focus on higher-value interactions. The platform’s automatic credential distribution significantly reduced the time spent on manual onboarding tasks, making it easier to scale training across larger teams.
CYPHER gamification dramatically increased engagement, making learning more interactive, rewarding, and self-motivating. Since launching CYPHER, 1,470 learners have earned 3,897 badges, turning training into an engaging, achievement-driven experience.
CYPHER automation tools eliminated manual data cleanup, freeing up time for higher-impact learning initiatives. With role-based access, employees received personalized learning paths, and administrators could restrict access to sensitive training modifications, helping to ensure compliance and security.
The implementation of SSO (Single Sign-On) and automated reporting helped streamline compliance tracking, ensuring that employees completed training on time and with full visibility for auditors.
The CYPHER centralized learning experience allowed NTT DATA to launch new leadership development programs, such as the GROW Leadership Program and Client Fanatix training series. These programs, which focus on collaboration, trust, and client relationships, have already had 183 managers complete their first module, with more in progress.

Onboarding has become significantly more efficient. CYPHER automation features have reduced classroom preparation time by two hours per New Hire class, allowing trainers to spend more time coaching employees instead of managing administrative tasks.
Administrative efficiency has also improved. Streamlined data retrieval has reduced in-class administrative tasks by 1 to 2 hours per session, enabling trainers to focus more on learner engagement and coaching. Test scores have seen a measurable impact. Before CYPHER, the average assessment score was 85%—now, pilot groups average 93%, demonstrating improved knowledge retention and application.
Improved data usability has led to significant time savings. The data extracted from CYPHER is immediately actionable, eliminating the need for manual data processing. This improvement has freed up an average of 2 workdays per month that were previously spent on data cleanup and manipulation. Over the course of a year, these efficiencies add up to 24 saved workdays—an entire month of administrative time reclaimed. With instant access to accurate, real-time data, the team can now make faster, data-driven decisions, further enhancing operational efficiency.
